Above all, we are anglers...
I have always been in love with Patagonia, with its
immense sceneries (I cannot think of a better word that
may express the magnitude of the plateau and the
mountain range cut out in the background, with the sun
hiding behind it), its huge distances and solitude, its
lakes with crystal-clear waters, whether calm or enraged,
depending on the wind blowing upon them, the murmur of
its rivers and creeks jumping among the rocks; and I
have always liked to see the fly-fishermen, and I have
been enthralled by the inflow of rhythmical movements
and the shape of the line cutting through the air.
I knew that sooner or later I would be fishing that way.
And it was back in 1989, during my vacations in the
Argentinian southern lands, that I purchased my first fly-fishing
equipment and, as it happens to most of us, I could not
conceive another way of fishing. Towards 1997, we began to
introduce fly-fishing into a small city of the south of
the Province of Santa Fe, organizing casting and tying
courses with our fellow Manny Reling.

In those days and in need of having the appropriate
elements, we made contact with Orvis in order to
start furnishing the students with first-quality
equipment.
That is how our first fly shop opened its doors. Since then,
there has been a continuous effort and commitment to
improve, to incorporate new products and services in
order to assist customers better.
The 2000/2001 Patagonian continental fishing season caught
us settled in San Martín de los Andes, with the aim
of continuing with our activities in the heart of
the trout area par excellence in the Republic of
Argentina. Thus, "San Martín Orvis Shop" opens its
doors with the hope to go on escorting all fly-
fishermen and providing them with the best services
and the finest high-quality products.
