SEVEN DAYS OF
FLY FISHING IN THE ARGENTINIAN PATAGONIA
Enjoy seven days of fly fishing in the Argentinian Patagonia, close to San Martin de los Andes, a small
mountain town sorrounded by the magnificent Andes landscape, at a
cost of only U$S 2600 per fisherman.
At “San Martin ORVIS” we have designed a
fly fishing program that will allow you to enjoy our Patagonic
rivers, as well as the traditional hospitality and cuisine of our
region.
We have chosen two fishing lodges of
outstanding level located in two different areas in the proximity
of San Martin de los Andes, offering different fishing
alternatives that combine rivers of different structure and
dimensions, but with a shared characteristic: a very low number of
fishermen and fishing sorrounded only by the landscape.
One of the chosen places is the “Meliquina
River Camp Lodge”. It is located next to the river Meliquina,
a typical mountain river from the Patagonic Andes, combining
riffles, runs and pools of absolute cristaline water, very well
populated by rainbow and brown trouts. From this lodge we will
also fish at the upper Filo Hua Hum river, which end at the Filo
Hua Hum lake, at the Caleufu river and at the Quieto spring
creek, populated by excellent brook trouts. All these rivers are
located in the southern part of the Lanin National Park, near the
border of the Nahuel Huapi National Park (the two largest and
oldest national parks in Argentina), framed by the imponent Andes
Chain, which in this area is covered by huge woods of coihues,
radales, ñires and cipreses.
The other chosen place is the “Spring Creek Lodge” located
next to the famous Chimehuin river. Sorrounded by a completely
Andean landscape and with a magnificent view of the Lanin volcano,
it offers in its 148,3 acres a beautiful spring creek populated by
rainbow trouts and a mile and a half of bank over the Chimehuin
river. Its confortable cabins (each one of them lodging two
fishermen) contain two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, wood
chimney and a large deck from which a magnificent view of the
Lanin volcano may be enjoyed. The closeness of the lodge to the
lagoons and creeks of the complex allows starting the casts
immediately after leaving it. The lodge has a spatious club house
where the restaurant is located (the complex has it own orchard),
a bar to enjoy great drinks before and after dinner, fly tying
table, besides satellite TV and broad band internet access.
Starting from this lodge we will fish, in daily outings, the
rivers Malleo (possibly the best river for fishing dry fly and
nymph in all Patagonia), Chimehuin, Collón Curá and Aluminé,
combining wading with raft floating like in a drift boat
The program
includes four days and four nights of lodging at the Spring Creek
Lodge and three days and three nights of lodging at Meliquina
River Camp Lodge, everything included.
Prestations include:

Chapelco Airport and transportation to the Spring Creek Lodge.

from the Spring Creek Lodge to the Meliquina River Camp Lodge
and to Chapelco Airport to the end of your trip.

Daily
transportation from lodge to fishing spot and back.

(breakfast, country lunch, snack and dinner), including
beverages (fine Argentinian wines, mineral water, beer, soft
drinks).

guides (one for each pair of fishermen), rafts.
