FISHING IN NEUQUEN
 |
WADE
FISHING FROM RIVER SHORES
Depending on the moment of the fishing season and your personal
preferences as regards the technique to be used, you may enjoy
various kinds of rivers, with varied characteristics and
possibilities, both in the surroundings of Junín and San Martín de
los Andes, and in the North of Neuquén. |
|
If you love fly-fishing
with dry flies and nymphs, small and mid-sized equipments,
floating lines and long and fine leaders, the Malleo River will
meet your expectations or, if you get deeper into the mountain
range area, you will find it pleasant to fish the Meliquina, the
Eastern and Western Filo Hua Hum, and the Caleufú Rivers, as
well as the magnificent Quieto spring creek.
Likewise, farther
North in Neuquén, in the outskirts of the small town of Aluminé,
you may enjoy delicate fishing in the Quillén and Pulmarí Rivers.
If you prefer more
powerful rods, sinking lines and streamers, then the Aluminé,
Collón Curá and the well-known Chimehuin Rivers are the correct
choices, where you will also indulge yourself with superb
rainbow and brown trouts with dry flies or a large stone nymph
drifting down its powerful flumes.
Depending on the
site you choose and the distance to such spot from your
accommodation site, you may go on these fishing outings for one
entire day or for half a day. |

RAFT
AND BELLY BOAT FISHING

Another
possibility is fishing various local rivers and lakes by
floating them on rafts or belly boats.
In such cases, fishing
possibilities are undoubtedly enhanced. You will have the chance
of getting to remote spots of the river where pedestrian or
vehicular access becomes difficult or even impossible, where the
shores are crowded with trees that make casting difficult but
worthwhile,as the river hides good trout, or where the waters
are too deep to be waded.

You can stop at
the flumes and wade them. All this is conjugated so that fishing
opportunities increase. But apart from all this, you will enjoy
the silent water flow on the raft watching the immense
Patagonian landscapes, the deep ravines where you will spot the
impressive red deer during the mating season, observe the pre-Andean
mountain range flora and fauna and the change of colors
outbursting in the Fall.
Several are the
rivers in which your yearn for fishing, relaxing and enjoying
the sceneries will be fully satisfied: the Caleufú, the
Chimehuin, the Collón Curá, the Aluminé, and the beautiful Lake
Filo Hua Hum, nestled in an open mountain range valley and
surrounded by the stunning Patagonian Andes.
|
In turn,
depending on the extension and on the river you decide
to float, the outing may take one, two or three days,
and you will camp one or two nights by the river.
It goes beyond saying that, as an
ideal complement to everything mentioned, good food and
drinks, country asados and pastries to liven up
the afternoon fishing are provided. |
